![]() ![]() ![]() there is none of that, none of the throwing around lowkey insults to women left and right, and in the end it works out quite beautifully because the only character we meet who is actually outright sexist is warner, which sets him up to be a gigantic asshole without having to have him like kill a kitten or something. there is none of that one scene that a lot of 90’s movies seem to have where the two female protags have a fight where they insult each other’s appearance and then latch onto each other’s hair and yell bloody murder. levelheaded? is the best way i can describe it. but it doesn’t! while vivian is certainly catty to elle at first the insults aren’t sexist, vivian is just threatened but the confrontation is surprisingly and refreshingly. the entire premise is based around a girl doing the most to get a guy, the main conflict of the film is the one between elle and viv, elle and her friends are stereotypical girly girls, etc - all that is just a perfect setup for a kind of passive aggressive lowkey misogynistic film that aims at actual feminist themes but falls short at #girlboss. Very user friendly, so you don't have to hunt down files in hidden folders, as with so many other mac apps, if you want to get rid of the app that said, Growly Notes isn't an "invasive" app at all.Sorry to be legally blonde blogging on main once again but i just wanted to talk about how easy it would’ve been to screw that movie up. One last thing: I like it that the developer included an "Uninstall" command in the menu. Why isn't Growly Write here on MacUpdate? Seems to be a nice app too… The app itself is very good UI design, rock stable, fast… Seems there is (was) lots of talent at Microsoft – the developer worked 10 years for MS – it says quite a lot about MS management, if they are not able to keep such good developers (and those devs go afterwards mac only development :-) If you don't like the app's icon, just replace it with a clipart of your choice. There's one thing I'd like to add: for those who don't like the appearance of the app, it can be customised: in the Preferences, just switch from "fun" to "serious" window layout, and it looks much more like your common mac app. OK, reading the other comments/reviews, this isn't news: Growly Notes is a great app. But I find Growly Notes the most capable for general purpose notes because it is easy to apply formats and one can drag and drop both text and objects with ease. I use Sidenote for hot short-term items (it is opened by mousing over to the side of the screen), and TextWrangler for coding. I use Evernote because it can automatically sync with File-This-Fetch for managing financial records. ![]() Incidentally, though this is my primary notes app, I DO use other note-taking apps as well for special purposes. But, I have looked hard in the past and I really like this app. If there were a freeware app that came close to doing all this app does, I would not have upgraded. Mostly this meant reading several sections of the extremely well-written docs as opposed to either scanning or ignoring them which is what I usually am able to do. The ways of handling formats (e.g., bullet lists, fonts, highlights, special symbols, indentation, ruler, styles) has changed from ver 1. The developer clearly put a lot of thought into every aspect of this.įor me there was a learning curve to understand all the capabilities that can be accessed via the tabbed sidebar. Growly Notes ver 2 is no longer free but is actually much better. Growly Notes ver 1 was the best note-taking app I had found, and I tried many of them. The following also have minor fixes or changes: Backup, Calculator, Calendar, Checkers, Cribbage, Draw, Hearts, Pinochle. You can start all new text notes with the current date and/or time. This is the way it worked before version 4, but if you prefer the buttons to stay in the same notebook you can turn this behavior The back/forward navigation buttons on the toolbar are now global, taking you across notebooks if necessary.Notes can read OPML files, which was an export option for Circus Ponies Notebook. You can search for a specific tag using Tools/Find with Options. This lets you record information about these things (source info, to-do lists, etc.) without having to add notes to the page. Remarks for pages, sections, and notebooks. For this release I winnowed them and came up with some useful updates, including: I have a long list of user requests for Notes.
